About
Tenly Kuhn
Before pole vault, my entire world revolved around gymnastics.
I grew up competing in trampoline and tumbling, qualifying for Nationals three different times. But around age twelve, chronic back injuries forced me to step away from the sport I had spent most of my childhood training for. Walking away from gymnastics meant losing the routine, the teammates who felt like family, and a sport that had shaped so much of my early years.
But it also opened the door to something new.
A few years later, a track coach suggested I try pole vault. At first I wasn’t sure what to expect, but the combination of speed, technique, and aerial movement immediately clicked with my gymnastics background. Within a week I was clearing 8’6″, and within two years I had gone from beginner to Division I recruit.
That journey eventually led me to Baylor University, where I now compete as a Division I pole vaulter. In 2025, I earned All-American honors at the NCAA Indoor Championships, and most recently I placed 2nd at the Big 12 Indoor Championships in February 2026.

Like many athletes, my journey hasn’t been perfectly linear. I’ve navigated injuries, performance anxiety, and mental blocks along the way. Those experiences helped shape my mindset as both an athlete and teammate, and I care deeply about supporting others who may be facing similar challenges.
Today, I share that journey through training tips, competition highlights, and behind-the-scenes moments from life as a Division I student-athlete. Whether I’m journaling goals, mentoring teammates, or stepping onto the runway, my focus is always the same: keep improving, keep learning, and keep moving forward.
Originally from Nevada and raised in California, I also enjoy spending time outdoors, snowboarding, relaxing at the beach, and being with friends and family. My Christian faith plays an important role in my life and continues to guide the way I approach both competition and personal growth.
